Brussels' flagship deep-tech fund picks 38 winners from 87 finalists: €292m on the table, and the interview is still the real filter.

💶FUNDING

The latest EIC Accelerator round

The European Innovation Council has selected 38 start-ups and SMEs in the newest EIC Accelerator round, announced 15 June. Together they share €90 million in grants plus up to €202 million in equity, a total of €292 million in blended finance, with 84% of winners taking the grant-plus-equity mix. The cohort spans 16 countries, led by France, the UK, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland, across solid-state batteries, robotics, carbon capture and agri-biotech. 21% are women-led.
🎯WHY IT MATTERS

The interview is the bottleneck

The number founders should fixate on is 38 of 87. Only the firms that reached the interview were still in play, and fewer than half (a 43.7% hit rate) walked away funded. The final panel, not the written proposal, is where the money is won or lost. The next full-proposal cut-off is 8 July, 17:00 Brussels. If you are in the pipeline, treat the interview as the main event: rehearse the pitch and the live Q&A now, not the week before. A near miss waits two months for the next cut-off.
