About this hub

The aim of the Digital Hub Logistics Dortmund as EDIHDO is to increase the dissemination, acceptance and adoption of digital technologies and their successful application for the development of product, process and business model innovations by SMEs. To this end, EDIHDO offers support formats and services in the categories Test before Invest, Skills & Training, Investment Search Support and Innovation Ecosystem & Networking. EDIHDO is supported by Fraunhofer IML and TU Dortmund as competence centres, Digital Hub Management as orchestrator and finally TZNet, a subsidiary of the City of Dortmund, and WFG Kreis Unna, a subsidiary of the district of Unna, as multipliers. EDIHDO focuses on the application area of logistics, manufacturing and production. In the area of digitalisation, the technological focal points include artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, the Internet of Things, blockchain, sovereign data exchange and cyber-physical systems, based on the needs of companies in the region, the potential in the application area and the competences of the consortium partners. Since the successful use of digital technologies in innovative products, processes and business models requires above all the digital competences of the employees, EDIHDO also places a special focus on offers in the area of digital further qualification. In the area of cyber security, which also plays an important role in the acceptance and implementation of digital technologies, EDIHDO acts as an intermediary to the existing competence centres in the region. Further technology competences can be brought in through cross-border cooperation and exchange in the EDIH network. In this way, SMEs and SMEs in the region can be comprehensively supported in the digital transformation, the strengthening of competitiveness can be ensured and thus the regional economic competitiveness and future viability can be secured.
