Development of AI – ICT for Manufacturing EDIH in Latvia

About this hub

LDIH unites Latvia’s leading research and technology organizations that are well-positioned to deliver technological and expert services. Based on a field of specialization, key enabling technologies under this category are AI and robotic solutions for manufacturing and business process automation. An Applied AI Knowledge Centre will be established to create an environment for detailed internal and external business process research. The purpose of the AI Centre Lab will be to demonstrate and model for businesses the advantages of implementing AI solutions in production processes tailored to their business model. In terms of community impact, the centre aims to increase accessibility to digital guidance and infrastructure in a local perspective, making it a matchmaking platform for scientists and businesses. The centre will provide the virtual and physical infrastructure for events and content creation. On a larger scale, the foundation of the centre will serve as an entity that holds knowledge and executes national-level digital transformation. Furthermore, it will connect the local digital ecosystem to the European digital network community and tap into the global AI community. LDIH will facilitate awareness in municipalities of the benefits of digitalisation in sustainable development and work towards an improved business environment in regions. This will be achieved by sharing best practice cases on implementing measures to facilitate the uptake of digital technologies, consequently improving the business environment and providing training and courses for Latvian municipality employees to raise awareness regarding the opportunities and impact that digitalisation can bring to local communities as well as skills improvement to mainstream the use of e-governance tools.
